Hilton is planning a new hotel launch in London’s Stratford

Hilton has signed a franchise agreement with the Gantry Group to open a new 18-storey hotel in Stratford. It is a joint venture between Black Friar Holdings and a £1.1 billion institutional investor.

The London Gantry hotel will be located opposite Stratford International train station and it will be among the best-connected hotels in East London. It will feature 285 rooms, restaurant spaces, and a sky bar with views across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President, Development, EMEA, Hilton, explains why they chose that specific location: “Stratford is London’s fastest growing business and leisure district, and a major contributor to the capital’s economic growth, with 125,000 new jobs forecast to be created in East London by 2030.”

Hilton already owns two hotels under its Curio brand – Trafalgar St James site and the Lincoln Plaza London, expected to open this year.

Design studios ICA were responsible for the architectural interpretation of the project: “It was great to work closely with a client whose vision was to create a landmark hotel which had the local neighbourhood at its heart, By layering the heritage of Stratford into the design we feel that we have created something that is iconic and will be a unique experience for guests.”

The interior of the hotel will be a celebration of contrasts between raw and luxurious and hard and soft. Stratford’s forgotten industrial past will be remembered in artwork and objects to intrigue the curious ones.

Warren Malschinger, director of the Gantry Group, said that the winner of the £77 million build contract was Ardmore. Ardmore is one of the largest family owned construction groups in the UK, known in London for its experience. The London Gantry will be their newest addition to their portfolio that already contains The Ned at Poultry, the Four Seasons at Ten Trinity Square, and Corinthia London.
