Houseplant.co.uk has analysed its delivery data to identify the most popular indoor plants across the UK, marking the first time it has shared regional insights based on more than 350,000 orders and 5,750 reviews.
The findings show that London favours the Areca Palm, with the Boston Fern also performing strongly. Manchester stands out for its demand for the Swiss Cheese Plant, while Bristol shows equal interest in both the Boston Fern and Swiss Cheese Plant. Glasgow follows London’s lead with the Areca Palm, whereas Edinburgh prefers the Radiator Plant ‘Hope’, valued for its ability to tolerate lower light levels.
In Oxford, the Wandering Dude Nanouk has gained popularity, particularly for its trailing aesthetic. Leeds customers are purchasing large quantities of String of Turtles, and Liverpool has unexpectedly become a strong market for the Venus Fly Trap.
Rebecca Tapper, founder of Houseplant.co.uk, said: “The Areca Palm being on top isn’t a shock. It sells out constantly and has done for months. But Liverpool and carnivorous plants? That one we didn’t see coming. When you’ve got data from 350,000 deliveries, it throws up things you’d never guess.”
The business has experienced rapid expansion, doubling in size each year. It credits this growth to its responsiveness to customer feedback, having reviewed over 7,000 messages and enquiries and introduced updates such as improved search functionality and pot suggestions at checkout.
The company has also developed a plant care library of 1,000 articles, enabling customers to ask questions in plain English rather than relying on specialist terminology.
Houseplant.co.uk has now delivered more than 350,000 houseplants nationwide and holds over 5,750 verified reviews, with further information available online.
