2024’s Hottest Trends with Direct Stoves

A fireplace or stove is a key feature in any home, not only does it provide warmth but it creates an attractive focal point; helping to add interest to living spaces of all shapes and styles.

Joanna Humphreys, Fire and Stove Specialist at Direct Stoves shares her thoughts on the stove trends set to take living rooms by storm in 2024.

    Natural Textures

“Textured interiors continue to remain popular with many homeowners looking to add natural materials into their living room schemes. From wooden panelling to tactile textures such as boucle or jute, these comforting materials help to create a cosy and welcoming feel.

When it comes to styling your stove, make your wood burner a feature and swap your log basket for integrated alcoves, not only does this keep your floor clutter-free, but it creates a stylish feature in keeping with the rest of the room.

Instead of opting for a large, bulky surround opt for a rustic wooden beam, this acts as a mantle for vases, photo frames and other decorative pieces without distracting from the stove.”

    Statement Shapes

“Large statement curves and characterful forms are dominating modern interiors right now, with many looking for ways to add dimension and texture, whilst maximising the unique architectural features of their home.

Move away from the normal straight chimney breasts and instead choose to construct a more unusual shape, this can also help to elongate the ceiling and create definition, ideal for large-open plan rooms in need of depth.

To complement your stove, paint your chimney breast with a lime wash effect and style with minimalistic decor in order to keep the focus firmly on the fire.”

    Traditional Styling

“Homeowners are trying to capture the traditional look, with many looking at ways to add character to more modern, new build homes. Inherent features such as large fireplaces, coving or crown moulding are heavily desired with many keen to replicate these period details in their own homes.

By opting for a marble or stone fireplace surround you can achieve a more classic look, accentuated further by a chesterfield sofa, sconce light fixture and large mirror. To carry on the more traditional theme, opt for a wood burning stove with an elegant steel body and large viewing pane.”
