McCain Multi-Million Expansion Work

An official groundbreaking ceremony has taken place at the McCain production facility in Scarborough. The popular producer of frozen potato products will be making a multi-million pound investment in order to extend and improve their manufacturing site.

The McCain facility in Scarborough is one of the company’s most successful, and no doubt this investment will deliver vital improvements that will allow the site to remain successful into the future. The expansion work has been valued at £100 million. This work is expected to deliver a range of efficiency improvements as well as securing jobs with the expansion of the facility.

The official groundbreaking ceremony took place to make the new milestone reached as part of the Scarborough development. In attendance at the event were the senior leaders of McCain GB and the McCain project team. Joining them to mark the start of construction work at the project was the leader of the council, Councillor Derek Bastiman and the Chief Executive of Scarborough Borough Council, Jim Dillon. It is important to see investment being made by high profile, large and popular companies investing in their northern facilities as the country continues to develop.

The development will include the installation of state-of-the-art odour reduction technology as well as a range of upgrades put into place for McCain’s manufacturing equipment . There will also be work to landscape around the completed development.

It is thought that now the construction work at the Scarborough site has stated there will be an increase in traffic and activity to the John Young Training Centre, off Osgodby Lane. An increase of activity at the training centre is expected to last for a number of weeks. The expansion work will secure the continued success of the McCain Scarborough centre, and the jobs of those working at the site, for a number of years to come.
