Property website Zoopla has announced that Doncaster is one the UK’s property hot spots for bargains. Nearly a third of Britain’s homes for sale have had their original asking price reduced, with the average markdown standing at nearly £25,000. The firm also confirmed that 32% of the properties on the market have had the price snipped.

The analysis found that Isle of Man has the largest discounts at 8.36% or £41,212 on average. With an average discount of 8.01% or £11,768, Bradford occupies the second place, while Doncaster is in the third place with average discounts of 7.19% or £12,894.

The largest share of reduced price properties are found in Twickenham in London, with more than two fifths (41.82%) of home son the market having had the asking price slashed. At the opposite pole, house-sellers in Enfield, Horsham and Aylesbury are unlikely to reduce much of their original asking prices, while sellers in Glasgow, Manchester and Coventry are the least likely to be offering any discounts at all.

“This should be welcome news for prospective first time buyers looking to get a foot on the property ladder,” said Lawrence Hall, a spokesman for Zoopla. “Those seeking bargains could consider areas such as Bradford, Doncaster and Blackburn in particular, or Twickenham if you’re looking to live closer to the capital.”
