Jackie Kennedy’s residence following her husband’s assassination, known as Baker House, is now up for auction. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas. In search of a new home, Jackie Kennedy purchased the 13-bedroom house in Georgetown, an 18th-century property that had also been home to notable figures such as Mayor Thomas Beall, Secretary of War Newton D. Baker, and former Miss America Yolande Fox. The property, which has been combined with two other homes, now offers 16,300 sq ft of space, including 13 bathrooms and five half bathrooms.
The house has been meticulously maintained and retains its original fireplaces, grand entry hall, and a wood-paneled library. The dining room features large windows and a luxurious gold leaf ceiling that reflects light throughout the room. The first floor includes a gym, executive office, and spacious kitchen. On the second floor, the primary suite spans most of the floor, with an additional four ensuite bedrooms, an observation deck, and a private balcony. Passageways connect to the other two homes on the property, providing additional bedrooms, gourmet kitchens, and luxury bathrooms. An underground garage with a discreet entrance offers private parking.
The house is located in Georgetown, Washington D.C., offering proximity to a waterfront park, high-end shops, and famous neighbors, including Jeff Bezos and Henry Kissinger. Jackie Kennedy only lived in the house for a year, as it attracted too much public attention. The property is set to go to auction on October 24, with a current price of £16 million ($19.5 million).
