First homes go on sale at Artemis View in Thanet

The first properties at Bovis Homes’ Artemis View location in Thanet have been released for sale – with some of the homes available under a new shared ownership scheme.

Bovis Homes is building 290 properties at the development, off Nash Road, and the homebuilder has teamed up with Sage Homes, which is England’s largest provider of new-build affordable homes, to offer its Home Stepper scheme to purchasers here.

Home Stepper is a shared ownership arrangement where the customer buys a percentage of the property and pays rent on the rest – and this means a 50 per cent share in a two-bedroom apartment at Artemis View can be purchased for as little as £133,000, while a 50 per cent share in a three-bedroom house is available from £159,000.

Candice McCabe, marketing manager for Bovis Homes, said: “The Margate area is highly sought after so we are pleased to be providing high-quality homes for people to live in and enjoy at Artemis View.

“The development forms a further stage of the Westwood Extension, which is planned to deliver around 1,000 new homes to the area. The development is just two miles from the sandy beach at Margate, three miles from Broadstairs and within walking distance of Westwood Cross shopping centre.

“Thanet Parkway train station, which is only 10 minutes by car, runs regular trains into London in just 70 minutes and makes the capital an easy commute.

“The launch of the Home Stepper scheme means purchasing a modern, energy-efficient new home in Thanet is within reach of people who might not otherwise have been able to afford it.

“By joining forces with Sage Homes, we have broadened the availability of homes, making the dream of home ownership possible for many customers who might have thought it was out of their reach.”

While shared ownership properties are often included in a scheme as part of a developer’s agreement with the local authority, these homes are usually in pre-determined locations.

The Home Stepper scheme allows housebuilders to have more flexibility on this so they can turn a range of open-market homes into shared ownership places to meet the requirements of the local market.

There are two and three-bedroom homes for sale under the Home Stepper scheme at Artemis View currently, as well as two and three-bedroom houses available to reserve on the open market.

Four-bedroom homes are also part of the development plan, and these will be available for purchase at a later date.

Bovis Homes is part of Vistry Group, which also includes Linden Homes and Countryside Homes. Linden Homes is also building new homes at neighbouring Westwood Point in Margate.
