Dura Composites Receives Queen’s Award

Dura Composites, the leading global supplier of innovative composite products used in flooring, structures facades and handrailing solutions has recently been given their official grant of appointment as well as a commemorative crystal bowl. The prestigious accolade was presented by the Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, Jennifer Tolhurst. This award has taken place as a part of the 2017 Queen’s Award for Enterprise success.

The Queen’s Award has been created as a celebration of the best in British Businesses and looks to showcase companies that are making an outstanding level of contribution to enterprise in the company. The award winners, Dura Composites operates from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex and were invited to attend a reception that took place in July of this year at Buckingham Palace. During this reception, the representatives of Dura Composites had the pleasure of speaking with Her Majesty the Queen.

Another event that has been held as a part of this year’s Queen’s Awards is a Gala Dinner, which took place in September and was enjoyed by all of the 2017 award winners, joined by Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal who offered her congratulations and support to those in attendance.

This year’s awards saw Dura Composites named as a part of an elite group of 176 recipients of the award. These recipients include just 15 that have been recognised from the whole of the East of England region. Dura Composites are also the proud representatives of the Tendring District. More than 85% of the Queen’s Award winners chosen this year’s award are small businesses, which is a testament to the vital role that is played by businesses like Dura Composites have in the growing economy.

The company held a Queen’s Award Ceremony at their Clacton-on-Sea headquarters, with Lord-lieutenant of Essex at the event to present the Managing Director of Dura Composites, Stuart Burns with an official grant of appointment signed by Her Majesty the Queen. The Ceremony was attended by the company’s 61 employees, local suppliers and dignitaries including the Lord-lieutenant, her husband, the Vice Lord-lieutenant Jonathan Douglas-Hughes and representatives from the Tendring District Council.
