Work Complete at New Homes Development in Romsey

All of the homes at a new development in Romsey have now been built and sold. Bellway has delivered 73 new homes at Meadow View, which is located off Cupernham Lane in the Hampshire town, including 44 houses for private sale and 29 affordable homes for local people through rent or shared ownership.

With all the houses on the site now complete, the final residents to move in are now settling into their new homes.

Kim Caldwell, Sales Director for Bellway Wessex, said: “Meadow View has proved to be an incredibly popular development with strong demand for the new homes right from the start, reflecting the need for new housing in the area.

“There was a high level of interest in the 63 new properties we previously delivered at our neighbouring Oxlease Meadows development, and this carried on through into Meadow View.

“The combination of both developments has seen Bellway deliver a total of 136 new homes to Romsey. As the final residents move into Meadow View, it is good to see that a brand-new neighbourhood, like the one at Oxlease Meadows, is taking shape.”

As part of the planning agreement for Meadow View, Bellway is contributing £145,390 for improvements at Romsey Primary School and £94,900 towards the New Forest Special Protection Area. £900,000 was also paid through the Community Infrastructure Levy, which can be used by the Council towards a wide range of local improvements.

The developer also contributed £1.3 million towards the upkeep of Fishlake Meadows Nature Reserve, as well as £300,000 towards local education and £369,000 towards roads, as part of the planning agreement for Oxlease Meadows.

Kim said: “These two developments have seen Bellway not only deliver more than 100 new homes to Romsey but contribute a total of £2.2 million to help ensure that local infrastructure and facilities evolve with the new developments.

“Much of the contribution is also to help protect and preserve the treasured Fishlake Meadows Nature Reserve, which has proved to be a big attraction for homebuyers who like the fact that they can explore the countryside on their doorstep.

“This significant level of investment is part of Bellway’s commitment to having a positive impact on the environment and to creating a lasting legacy in the local area.”
