Home Counties family housebuilder Martin Grant Homes has completed on its second site in the Weald of Sussex this year; with 54 new homes set to be built on a six-and-a-half-acre site in Kirdford.

This follows the company’s acquisition in January of a small site in nearby Loxwood, which will provide 24 new homes. Both sites will help meet some of the supply requirements for new homes identified by Chichester District Council.

The latest development in Kirdford, which has existing planning permission, will comprise of 38 private one to four bedroom homes and 16 affordable properties. Both developments will be sensitively designed to reflect the character of the local area, and West Sussex vernacular. The developer has previously built other popular developments nearby in Birdham, Ifield and Storrington.

The site is located at the southern end of Plaistow Road next to Kirdford Chapel, less than a mile from Kirdford village with its award-winning community shop, beautiful medieval church, two village pubs, primary school and playgroup. Located on land that was historically used as a former apple orchard when Kirdford’s main industry was wholesale apple growing with ‘Kirdford Growers’, the site was most recently used as a pasture for grazing.

Lee Atkins, Senior Land Manager for Martin Grant Homes, comments: “To have completed on our second site in the Weald of Sussex in just three months, is an exciting start to the year for us. Kirdford is an extremely special village with a fascinating apple-growing heritage. We look forward to working closely with the local community to create a desirable new collection of homes to help meet local housing needs and attract more families and first-time buyers to live in this beautiful part of West Sussex.”

Chris Hamilton, Managing Director for Martin Grant Homes, comments: “We look forward to bringing a positive impact to both village communities of Kirdford and Loxwood with small collections of quality, beautifully finished new homes. As a local housebuilder with previous experience of building in this area, we are delighted to bring our knowledge and expertise and be back building in this picturesque area of the south east.”

Martin Grant Homes expects to start site implementation by mid-2021 and an on-site sales and information centre is planned for later this year.
