Living Space has achieved planning consent from Wychavon District Council for a new affordable housing development in Tibberton, Worcestershire. The project will deliver 35 high-quality homes through a blend of social rent and shared ownership tenures, responding directly to the region’s acute housing need.
The development will transform a partly brownfield site on the edge of the village, reflecting Living Space’s commitment to sustainable, responsible land use. Notably, 70% of the site will be dedicated to Green Infrastructure, creating new areas of public open space accessible to the wider community. The scheme will deliver a 26% on-site biodiversity net gain, well above the national minimum threshold, supporting both environmental resilience and placemaking ambitions.
With planning approval secured, Living Space will now seek an affordable housing provider to bring the scheme forward, ensuring the delivery of much-needed new homes for local people at a time of continued demand across Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands.
Paul Breen, Managing Director of Living Space, commented:
“This approval at Tibberton reinforces our commitment to unlocking high-quality, affordable homes in rural communities. As the national conversation continues around housing delivery and sustainability, we remain focused on creating inclusive neighbourhoods that complement their surroundings and make a lasting positive impact. This development will provide genuine housing choice alongside meaningful green and environmental benefits.”
Luke Webb, Planning Director at Living Space, added:
“We’re delighted to have worked collaboratively with Wychavon District Council to achieve a consent that aligns with local priorities and emerging national planning policy. The focus on biodiversity and Green Infrastructure demonstrates how well-designed rural developments can deliver growth while enhancing the landscape. This scheme sets a benchmark for future affordable housing delivery across Worcestershire.”
