Kier Has Awarded a Contract to Spie UK

Kier, the construction, services and property group has awarded a contract to Spie UK as part of their development of a school campus in Kilmarnock. The William McIlvanney Campus is a development that is being complete by the construction group, and Spie UK has been appointed to carry out the Mechanical and electrical works as part of the project.

The project will see a number of education facilities combining in order to form the William McIlvanney Campus in Kilmarnock. The development has been valued at  £45.3 million and will merge the Kilmarnock Academy, James Hamilton Academy, Silverwood Prim, New Farm Primary and an Early Childhood Centre. Spie’s contract from Kier is thought to be worth £8 million. During the development, Spie Uk will be delivering a range of multi-technical services. These include domestic water services, heating systems that include underfloor heating, syphonic drainage, low temperature hot water and lighting and power. On top of these services, Spie UK will also supply combined heat and power unit, ventilation, fire sprinkler system, fire alarms and security systems as well as a daylight-linked PIR lighting control system and absence detection in classrooms.

The specialist expertise offered by Spie UK will be utilized in order to deliver the best services or this modern and innovative project. The multi-technical service provider has worked with Kier Before and has performed similar work as part of the development of Garnock Community. This work was carried out on behalf of North Ayrshire Council.

When the development is complete, the William McIlvanney Campus will have 1,465 secondary places, 383 primary spaces and 160 early years spaces on the campus, open to children aged 2-18. It is also expected that a third school will be built in order to cover the places that are currently offered by Grange Academy and Onthank Primary.
