Watsons, one of the UK’s most established property companies, is proud to celebrate 135 years in the industry. Founded in Norwich in 1890, the firm will commemorate the occasion with a special gathering for staff, clients and partners on Friday 19th September 2025.
The business was established by Edwin Watson and his partner Mr Sadd, who launched Sadd and Watsons Estate Agents on Rampant Horse Street. Over the years, the firm has expanded from its origins as a local estate agency into a leading national multi-disciplinary property group.
The company’s long-standing success reflects its dedication to the values of professionalism, client care and integrity set out by its founder. “Reaching 135 years in business is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and the unwavering trust of our clients,” said Ray Smith, Chief Executive Officer.
“Our heritage is the foundation of who we are today. For over a century, we’ve navigated changing markets and evolved our services, but our commitment to providing expert advice and a personal touch has remained constant.”
Now an award-winning practice of Chartered Surveyors, Watsons works across 30 counties in the UK. The firm is regulated by RICS and holds affiliations with The Property Institute, NAEA and ARLA, providing a full spectrum of property services including valuations, surveying, block and estate management, lettings and property management.
Adaptability and innovation have been central to Watsons’ reputation, alongside a consistent commitment to excellence.
The upcoming anniversary celebration will honour the firm’s history while also looking to its future. The event will acknowledge the contributions of employees and clients across generations, while recognising Watsons’ long-standing role as both a respected East Anglian brand and a local employer with its headquarters in Norwich.
