Capital&Centric is meeting the neighbours at Northstowe to chat about the plans for the UK’s biggest new town.

The social impact developers have been brought on by Homes England to develop a vision for a vibrant town centre. Whilst still at an early stage, the plans are set to include lush green hangouts, shops, bars, cafes, workspaces, community spaces and services like a GP, post office and bank.

They will set out plans to include new high-quality homes that are expected to be a mix of contemporary apartments and its ‘Neighbourhood’ brand of low carbon suburban homes.

The team will be at the Tap and Social in Northstowe on 10th October from 4pm to grab a drink with locals and chat about the plans.

John Moffat, Joint Managing Director at Capital&Centric said:

“New towns haven’t always had the best reputation, but we’ve big plans to create a place with a standout identity that the community can be proud of. The town centre will shape Northstowe’s character and become its beating heart, so it’s really important we get this right.

“We want to get to know the existing community – the people that are pioneering Northstowe living – and understand what they want for the town. First up we’re going to be chatting about what temporary hangout and community spaces we can create in the next few months to give people places to meet. This will be the first of many events we’ll hold as we start the conversation around the next chapter for Northstowe and how we can create the blueprint for new towns.”

Working across the UK, Capital&Centric is a social impact developer that has gained a reputation for delivering imaginative town centre neighbourhoods, with a focus on standout architecture. It follows the tried and tested method they’re taking in other places like Kampus, Manchester’s award-winning garden neighbourhood, the reboot of Farnworth town centre in Bolton, and a new community at Goods Yard in Stoke-on-Trent.
