Lansdown Insurance Brokers proudly announces its 60th anniversary as a leading property insurance provider. Lansdown is celebrating this milestone by holding a garden party to celebrate and recognise all the unwavering support from insurance partners, clients and hardworking colleagues.

Over the past six decades, Lansdown has remained committed to its core values of respect, kindness, being imaginative, providing charitable giving to the local area and maintaining a family-run feel to the business.

Founded in 1964 by Ray Gill, a local driving instructor, Lansdown has continuously evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of its clients. From humble beginnings with a team of 25 dedicated professionals, Lansdown has expanded its workforce to over 40 employees in the last decade alone, a testament to its sustained growth and commitment to providing top-notch service. In that time, Lansdown has launched five new insurance products, demonstrating its commitment to innovation.

Greg Bishop, Senior Commercial Team Leader

“I have been at Lansdown for 21 years now and the time has flown by. I remember when I interviewed with Ray Gill (Lansdown Founder) that I wanted one more career move and I still want that to be the case. I joined the commercial team in 2003 at the point where there were just three of us, the business has grown exponentially in this time, and we now have 11 Executives and are on the lookout for more!

The team I work with definitely make a difference to me. I have worked with Darren Bee, our Associate Director, for over 19 years and Lucy Taylor-Radmore for over 10 years. In the early years, we worked closely together dealing with clients and always looking out for each other. When Darren took the reins of the business in 2017 it was no surprise, he was the perfect choice and I am pleased that he has upheld the ethos that makes us stand out from our competitors.“

One of the hallmarks of Lansdown’s success has been its unwavering dedication to giving back to the community. Over the last 10 years, Lansdown has contributed almost £70,000 to various charitable causes, embodying its ethos of corporate social responsibility and community support. In 2014, Lansdown was purchased by SEIB Insurance Brokers and is now part of the Benefact Group – a charity-owned, international family of financial services companies that gives all available profits to charity and good causes. Since 2014, the group has donated over £200 million to charity.

Nestled within the historic Lansdown House, formerly East Hayes and Joseph Pitt House, the company’s headquarters boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1843. Originally constructed as the residence of Rev. John Browne, Lansdown House has undergone various transformations over the years, including serving as a boarding school for girls and later as part of Sunnyside Maternity Hospital before being converted into offices in the 1970s.

In addition to its rich history, Lansdown prides itself on its longstanding partnerships with reputable insurers such as Allianz and Ecclesiastical, with these relationships spanning over 15 and 12 years respectively. These trusted relationships have enabled Lansdown to offer clients unparalleled access to comprehensive insurance products and services tailored to their specific needs.

Under the leadership of Associate Director, Darren Bee, who assumed the role in 2017 but has been with Lansdown since 2006, the business has experienced remarkable growth and transformation. Darren’s strategic vision and commitment to creating a culture of growth and development have led to significant milestones, including doubling the company’s business and implementing impactful changes to enhance the brand and client experience.

Reflecting on the journey thus far, Darren shared, “My focus has been on nurturing talent, fostering a culture of collaboration, and driving innovation to better serve our clients. I am immensely proud of the milestones we have achieved together, from growing our team to enhancing our brand presence. Looking ahead, we remain committed to delivering exceptional service and driving positive change in the industry.”

Here are more testimonials from some of Lansdown’s long-standing employees who have been an integral part of their journey:

“I started working at Lansdown in July 2003, 21 years this year!

Lansdown is a great company. I love the department that I work in, we make a brilliant team. Lansdown has always looked after me during my time here, and I have made some lifelong friends.”

    Dan Parry, Commercial Support Executive

“It’s a friendly, welcoming environment to work in and I’ve enjoyed seeing it grow and go from strength to strength. It’s been nice to be a small part of this over my 24 years here and I’m hoping that continues for the next 24 or so.”

Friday, June 7th, saw the Lansdown teams unite with their key partners to observe this momentous occasion, revelling in games, beverages, Woody’s Woodfired Pizza, and nostalgic ice cream served from a classic van.

As Lansdown Insurance Brokers commemorates its 60th anniversary, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence, innovation, and unwavering dedication to its clients, employees, and communities.
