Leading commercial property developer Stoford today announced it has completed a £5 million development of a warehouse and distribution unit in Essex.

The 58,000 sq ft unit was purchased by plumbing and heating merchant Wolseley UK, in order to open a brand new, state of the art, Pipe Center and Climate Center branch and Fabrication facility.

The unit is located on Stoford’s 2.3-acre Bas55 site on Paycocke Road in Basildon.

Stoford director Dominic Stokes said: “We are delighted to announce that Wolseley UK has purchased the recently completed 58,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution unit at our Bas55 site at Basildon in Essex.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the project, including construction contractors Benniman Ltd and project managers DBK, for playing their part in what has been a very successful development.”

He added: “The site had been vacant since we completed the construction of the Driving Standards Agency unit in 2008. However, due to the recent surge in demand in the warehouse and logistics sector for high quality accommodation, we were always confident the market would respond positively to our development of the site.”

Andy Wighton, managing director of Pipe Center and Climate Center, said: “The new purpose built site is a significant investment into our business’ future growth. The branch will hold an extensive breadth and depth of product to service all our customers’ needs. It is located near to major roads links, which means we are ideally placed to offer even faster delivery, particularly to London sites, and unrivalled customer service.”
