Ortus Energy has partnered with SSE Energy Solutions to deliver a major solar energy project at the Kia Stockton dealership in Stockton-on-Tees.
This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of both companies to assisting businesses in adopting renewable energy solutions and reducing their reliance on fossil fuels.
The project includes the installation of a 601 kWp solar PV system, which has been optimised to maximise on-site energy usage. It is estimated that this system will generate 538,000 kWh of clean energy per year, supplying around 45% of the dealership’s total electricity demand.
With this solar project, Kia Stockton is reinforcing its dedication to environmental sustainability. By harnessing solar power, the dealership will achieve a substantial reduction in its carbon footprint, cutting CO2 emissions by 110 tonnes annually.
SSE Energy Solutions is funding the solar installation and has entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Kia Stockton. This arrangement enables the dealership to secure a consistent electricity rate for 25 years without requiring any initial capital investment. By adopting a PPA model, businesses can mitigate the risks of energy market fluctuations, advance their sustainability objectives, and benefit from greater financial stability in their energy costs.
