Major jobs boost for Redditch on the cards as John Truslove brings landmark site to market

One of Redditch’s most recognisable landmark sites is being brought to market by Worcestershire’s top commercial property agents John Truslove with a price tag of £5.5 million.

The 6.3 acre commercial development opportunity at 13A & B Ravensbank Drive, Redditch, is best known for the highly visible tall radio mast and satellite dish array which dominates the end of the Coventry Highway.

The site is expected to attract national and international interest and has the capacity to create dozens of new jobs for the town.

It is next to the Redditch Gateway speculative development where Amazon has agreed to take a new 534,000 sq ft building on Phase One. Work has now begun on the second and final phase of the development.

Ian Parker, joint managing director of John Truslove, said: “The site comprises an obsolete data centre that was built by British Leyland, later Rover, in the 1970s but it has passed through a number of owners.

“Up until recently, it was owned by the well known AT&T Istel, a major employer in the Redditch area in the 1980s and 1990s, but is now owned Dawn UK Holdco Ltd, an American company that operates data centres in the US.”

He pointed out that there is virtually no land for sale in a market that is crying out for more stock.

“We believe that such is the demand for sites like this, that we will receive both regional and national interest from developers and occupiers.

“The site is just off the A435 which leads directly to the Portway junction 3 of the M42 which feeds into the M40, M6, M5 and the national motorway network.

“It also provides fast access to Birmingham International Airport and the national railway network to London and all major cities.”

He added that the site is so well known locally and will be a welcome addition to available employment land.

“This one of the biggest and most strategic site sales in the Midlands for some time, and we are anticipating strong interest from a number of suitors.”
