Work has started on a changing room and sports pavilion facility, which will serve new sports pitches being provided by Vistry at Twigworth Green in Twigworth.

Vistry Group, which is building new homes at the location under its Bovis Homes and Linden Homes brands, hosted a breaking-ground ceremony at the site off Ironbridge Road, with representatives from civil engineering firm MV Kelly and the managing agents, Gateway Property Management attending.

The housebuilder is investing £850,000 in the project, which will include a club/committee room and two changing rooms with showers, plus a veranda, a car park and cycle storage outside.

Two local football clubs have expressed an interest in using the facilities, which are due to be completed in the autumn of next year. The building will serve one adult and two youth football pitches and a fenced Multi Use Games Area which form part of the wider open space being provided at Twigworth Green.

Hayley Ody, regional sales and marketing director for Vistry Cotswolds, said: “We have now started work on the new changing facilities at Twigworth Green which will provide a focal point for the sports pitches being delivered at the development.

“Vistry is committed to helping the local community as the new homes at Twigworth Green take shape and the interest expressed by local clubs is great to see.

“The sports and leisure facilities that are being built here will give clubs a new location to train and hold meetings and we look forward to welcoming them here once work is complete.”

Vistry Group is building 557 new homes at Twigworth Green, with 360 of these now complete. The development is part of a wider new community being created which will deliver a total of 725 new homes to the area.
