Vistry Kent hosted a charity golf and clay pigeon shooting day to raise funds for children’s charity Demelza and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.
Employees and contractors attended the event on Thursday 16 May at Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club at Ticehurst, raising £57,000 for the two causes.
SSAFA – the Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families Association – is Vistry’s 2024 national charity, while Demelza is the Kent region’s chosen charity partner.
SSAFA supports any member of the Armed Forces community through challenges they are facing. They assist serving personnel and veterans as they make a transition from life in the Forces to life as a civilian, as well as supporting military families and older veterans.
Demelza provides care for children facing serious or life-limiting conditions in Kent, south-east London and East Sussex. The charity supports 2,500 children and family members per year, offering practical and emotional support for families and siblings, as well as creative therapies, end-of-life support, and short breaks for families to enjoy time together.

The fundraising day began with breakfast before the golfers teed off, and those taking part in the clay pigeon shoot went to nearby Arena Pursuits in Flimwell. The teams then met back at Dale Hill at the end of the day, for drinks and a talk by a representative of Demelza, followed by a dinner and charity auction.
