InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the biggest hotel companies in the world, has announced the signing of the third Hotel Indigo in Italy. Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena will operate under a franchise agreement with H.n.H. Hotels & Resorts S.p.A and will open in 2019.

Hotel Indigo Venice – Sant’Elena is located next to the ‘Rio Sant’ Elena’ canal which is within walking distance to the Castello district and a 15-minute walk from St Marco Square. The Castello district is one of a kind and tourists can enjoy an authentic Venetian experience discovering the local restaurants, shops, and the renowned historic architecture.

The 77 room hotel was converted from an old convent built in the 1930’s and the exterior architectural design is composed of two wings joined in the centre of the property by a former chapel. It will boast an interior courtyard and large windows with high ceilings, inspired by the local neighbourhood.

“It is an exciting time for Indigo with Indigo Milan – Corso Monforte set to open next year and the number of hotels open across Europe is set to double in the next 3 to 5 years. It is clear that the Hotel Indigo brand is resonating with guests and owners alike and we look forward further expanding our footprint across the industry’s fastest growing segment,” comments Hylko Versteeg, Associate Vice President of Development Southern Europe, IHG.

No Hotel Indigo properties are the same, just like no neighbourhoods are alike. Each of them is designed to reflect the location in which it was built – the local culture, the character, and the history of the surrounding area.

The company was launched in 2004 and it continues to be a growth vehicle for IHG with a focus on top tier priority markets in desirable urban centres. Currently there are 22 Hotel Indigo hotels opened and 18 in the development pipeline across Europe.
