ForHousing has completed work on its latest development on Allotment Road, Irlam, delivering 20 new homes to the Salford area.
The homes, developed in partnership with Collaborative Living, offer ten one-bedroom flats and ten two-bedroom flats for social rent.
External funding of £1.5 million was secured from Homes England, along with £200,000 from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority Brownfield Grant funding programme, contributing to the project’s total value of almost £3.4 million.
Construction started in March 2024 and was completed in July 2025.
The homes were designed by Jennings Design Architects and built using timber frame throughout as a sustainable and energy-efficient material.
Councillor Tracy Kelly, Statutory Deputy City Mayor and Lead Member for Housing and Anti-Poverty, said:
“There’s a clear need for more affordable housing across Salford, and this development at Allotment Road will make a real difference, providing local people with high-quality, energy-efficient homes where they can thrive.
“As Salford continues to grow, it’s essential that we plan for the future. This project combines affordability, quality, and sustainability to deliver homes that will serve local people for generations to come.”
Nigel Sedman, Executive Director of Homes at ForHousing, said:
“At ForHousing, our work is about much more than housing. It’s about regenerating places like Irlam and building stronger communities, and we’re proud to play a part in delivering homes that make a lasting difference.
“Allotment Road is part of our long-term investment in Salford – supporting the council’s strategic housing priorities, helping to ease pressure on social housing waiting lists, and ensuring more people have access to safe, affordable homes.”
