Construction work has come to an end at a Bellway Essex The Furlongs in Great Leighs where all the homes have now been sold.

Bellway Essex has delivered 100 new homes at The Furlongs, off Main Road, including a range of one and two-bedroom apartments and two to four-bedroom houses.

The developer has built 65 detached houses for private sale while the remaining 35 homes have been provided as affordable housing for rent or shared ownership.

Jenny Walker, Sales Director at Bellway Essex, said: “The range of house types on offer has attracted buyers from different stages of the property ladder, from first-time buyers to growing families, while the affordable homes have enabled local people to find a new home without having to move out of the area.

“Great Leighs is a thriving village which is extremely sought after by housebuyers, and The Furlongs has proved particularly popular with families because of its proximity to the highly regarded Great Leighs Primary School. The mix of houses and the wide range of purchasers has helped to create a thriving community made up of people of all ages.”

The Furlongs features a children’s play area and extensive landscaping across the site.

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Bellway has provided funding of more than £1 million for local infrastructure through the Community Infrastructure Levy, as well as a contribution of £81,700 towards secondary school transport.

Jenny said: “With all the homes at The Furlongs having now sold and most of the properties occupied, it is good to see the new residents enjoying living in this much sought-after development. The demand for these homes was huge, with nearly 80 per cent of the properties being reserved before we had even opened the showhome.

“There are still plenty of opportunities for house-hunters in this part of Essex to find their dream home in a new community, as we are building new homes just seven miles away at the Hatfield Grove development in Hatfield Peverel.

“We would advise anyone who was unable to secure a property at The Furlongs to give us a call as we are confident we can meet their needs at another development nearby.”
