A new housing development which is taking shape in Bishop’s Stortford has now opened to the public.

Ashberry Homes is building 124 new homes at Maltings Place at St James’ Park on a nine-acre site off St James’ Way, with the first properties released for sale on Saturday (25 November).

The first selection of homes available to reserve comprises three and four-bedroom houses in five different designs. These properties each have designated parking with an electric vehicle charging point and all have solar panels on the roof.

Matthew Saw, Sales Manager at Ashberry Homes, said: “It is always a thrill to welcome the first visitors to a new development and it was great to meet potential customers at the launch event at Maltings Place at St James’ Park.

“We had a very busy day telling the visitors about the fabulous collection of new-build homes we are delivering here. We have released five different house types for sale and three of these homes – the three-bedroom Clematis and Alyssum and the four-bedroom Tuscany – have solar panels which will help reduce the household’s energy bills.

“Maltings Place at St James’ Park is designed to be a sustainable development providing green open spaces including a play area, a tree-lined main street and a network of footpaths and cycleways linking to the wider site. The idea is to be part of an environment where people feel able to use greener forms of transport and leave the car at home.”

The Ashberry Homes development is part of the wider St James’ Park consortium project, being delivered at the southern edge of the town. As well as 750 new homes and a new site for The Bishop’s Stortford High School, plans also include a new primary school, care home and employment space.

Matthew said: “Bishop’s Stortford is becoming a location of choice, particularly for people working in London. It has its own distinctive identity, thanks to the town’s host of independent shops, bars and restaurants and its location on the edge of open countryside – yet is just a 40-minute train journey from London Liverpool Street station.”

Maltings Place at St James’ Park will include 75 three, four and five-bedroom houses for private sale, alongside 49 affordable homes for low-cost rent or shared ownership. Prices start at £445,000 for a three-bedroom property.

Homes will be ready to move into from summer 2024.
