When the temperature rises and everything feels sticky, getting dressed can become one of the day’s most annoying tasks. Trying to stay stylish while also surviving the heat is not easy, especially when it feels like stepping outside means walking into an oven. And with the temperatures the world is facing now, we all need a little help surviving the heat. Whether you are heading to work, running errands, or just hoping to stay somewhat fresh during a heatwave, there are ways to look good and feel comfortable. You do not need to suffer through the summer just to get dressed, and we’re here to help you out. A few small changes in your wardrobe and routine can make a big difference so read along and get ready for a breathable summer!

    Stick to breathable fabrics

The number one rule for dressing in the heat is to choose the right fabrics. Natural, breathable materials like cotton, linen, and bamboo are your best choices. These fabrics allow air to circulate and help absorb sweat without making you feel damp or uncomfortable. A loose-fitting linen dress or a pair of cotton shorts with a lightweight T-shirt will always feel better than tight clothes made of synthetic materials. Even for office wear, you can style wide-leg linen trousers with an oversized button-up shirt for a look that is both cool and smart. After all, lounge wear trends are super popular now, so you can just call it fashion and wear the most comfy pieces. Try to avoid anything that clings to your body, as it will only trap heat and allow no air flow.

    Choose your bag wisely

Bags are often overlooked in summer style, but they can really affect how you feel throughout the day. A heavy leather tote or large shoulder bag can make you sweat more, especially if you are carrying it around in the sun. Backpacks are even worse. Try switching to something lighter and smaller, like a small satchel bag or a leather backpack that can be hand held. You can check out some options here:https://www.gaelsong.com/prod_detail_list/accessories-celtic-handbags The best thing about these bags is that they work in all seasons, and the way you wear them depends on the temperature. A backpack that can turn into a hand held briefcase will feel professional and keep your back sweat free. Also, bring just the essentials such as your wallet, phone, sunscreen, and maybe a small face mist. You can even keep a cooling wipe or mini fan tucked in for when you need a quick refresh.

    Lighter colours and looser shapes

Colour matters more than you might think when the sun is up and shining. Light colours such as white, beige, pastel blue, and pale pink reflect sunlight, which helps keep your body temperature down. On the other hand, dark colours like black or navy absorb heat and can make you feel much warmer so it’s best to avoid them. Shape is just as important. Loose silhouettes let air move around your body and help you stay cooler for longer. Flowy skirts, oversized shirts, and wide-leg pants are not just trendy right now, they’re also very practical. You can add personality to your outfit with some colourful accessories, bold sunglasses, or a bright lip colour without adding extra layers.

Helpful accessories that do more than decorate

Some accessories are more than just for looks, especially when it is extremely hot. A wide-brimmed hat or a cotton bucket hat can protect your face from the sun and help you stay cool while walking outdoors. Shoes are also key. Choose breathable sandals or sneakers made from mesh or canvas so your feet do not overheat. Avoid heavy boots or anything that does not allow air circulation. And always carry a reusable water bottle with you. You can fill it with ice water in the morning or even leave it in the fridge overnight for a refreshing drink on the go. These small additions can have a big impact on how comfortable you feel.
