Property services business Liberty is taking a leading role in Gas Safety Week 2025 (8th-14th September), joining forces with clients and partners across the country to raise awareness of the importance of gas safety in the home.
Working with seven clients nationwide, Liberty will engage with thousands of residents through pop-up events, advice sessions, and leaflet distribution – making sure as many households as possible are equipped with the knowledge they need to stay gas safe.
Faulty or unsafe gas appliances, whether poorly fitted or serviced, can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions, and carbon monoxide poisoning. This year’s Gas Safety Week focuses on ‘Looking after your home, friends, and family’, emphasising that gas safety is a shared responsibility for all.
In the North West, Liberty will create a series of informative social media posts for Muir Group, providing guidance on gas safety and essential maintenance tips to help residents feel more confident about protecting their homes.
In the South, pop-up events such as coffee mornings and advice drop-ins will be hosted in partnership with MHS Homes, Crawley Borough Council, Exeter City Council, Harrow Council, Portsmouth City Council, and Havebury Housing Partnership.
Local residents will be encouraged to stop by, speak with experts, and pick up advice on keeping their homes safe.

Top gas safety tips for households:
- Look out for warning signs that appliances may not be working properly: lazy yellow/orange flames instead of crisp blue ones, black marks on or around appliances, pilot lights that frequently go out, excess condensation in the room, or unusual sounds.
- Learn the six main symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning: headaches, dizziness, breathlessness, nausea, collapse, and loss of consciousness.
- Fit an audible carbon monoxide alarm marked with BS EN 50291, and encourage family and friends to do the same.
- Have gas appliances checked annually by a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer – and check their Gas Safe ID card.
- Make sure there is enough ventilation in rooms with gas appliances.
