Top 10 UK housebuilder Keepmoat has announced its partnership with leading construction wellbeing organisation, The Lighthouse Charity.

The charity is devoted to promoting the wellbeing of people working within the construction sector, including mental health, physical wellbeing and financial support. Keepmoat has also pledged to train 50 mental health first aiders by the end of the year.

The new partnership forms part of the housebuilder’s ‘Valuing Difference’ initiative, dedicated to upskilling department leaders and managers to support its employees. This includes equipping teams with the tools to handle mental health and wellness discussions effectively, and signposting team members to health and wellness services and benefits.

Alongside mental health first aiders, which will be trained directly by the charity, Keepmoat has signed the Building Mental Health Charter, spearheaded by Lighthouse and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), outlining the company’s commitment to its staff and stakeholders.

Debbie Waddington, Group HR Director at Keepmoat, says of the new partnership: “I believe that a great workplace is one where every individual feels valued and empowered to thrive. That’s why at Keepmoat we place great emphasis on the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

“Mental health challenges don’t just affect individuals, they impact teams, productivity,

and ultimately, the success of the company. By supporting mental wellbeing, Keepmoat is

creating a sustainable and healthy environment where everyone can perform at their best – ensuring every employee feels safe, heard, and supported.”

In 2024, The Lighthouse Charity trained nearly 5,000 mental health first aiders, and supplied more than 5,700 counselling sessions for employees in the construction industry. Keepmoat has also donated £10,000 to support the charity with its on-going, vital services.

Sarah Bolton, CEO of the Lighthouse Charity adds:  “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Keepmoat for its continued support. Keepmoat’s proactive stance in supporting its teams and promoting our charitable services continues to open conversations around positive wellbeing, and helps to create a supportive working environment for everyone in our industry.”

Keepmoat is a leading partnership homebuilder, focussed on first time buyers, providing high quality homes throughout the UK that transform communities and improve the lives of local people.
