The Award-winning house building company has announced a new intake for their graduate and apprenticeship schemes. The company operate their own schemes that have been running for the past three years. Story Homes has welcomed twelve new apprentices as well as four graduates to their team in order to allow the company to continue with their development of young talent as well as trying to reduce the skills gap seen in the housebuilding industry at the moment.

The 12 new bricklaying, joinery and technical apprentices will be working across all of Story Homes’ key regions before starting their roles on-site and in the office. Story Homes operates across the North of England, Cumbria and Southern Scotland. The company was first founded in 1987 as Story Construction before being separated into Story Homes and Story Contracting.

The housebuilders launched the Aspire Apprenticeship Scheme in 2016 which looks to develop the brightest and most passionate school leavers from age 16 and above in order to develop the talent and skills available. The Apprentices will take a part in a full development programme which will see them work towards their NVQ Level 2 or Level 3. With on the job training and the possibility of the moving on to trainee site management at the end of the programme.

The graduate programme has chosen four individuals through a rigorous assessment process earlier in the year. Joining Story Homes, the Quantity Surveyor, Technical designer Joshua Haworth, Land Planner Lauren Duckworth and Hannah Richins, Strategic Planner. The graduates that have joined Story Homes’ training scheme will be working from the housebuilding company’s Chorley Office.
