ESPC calls on Scottish Government to take urgent action to reverse the housing emergency
ESPC, the leading property sellers in Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and the Borders, has repeated its call for the Government to ‘build, build, build’ in light of new housing stats which illustrate a ‘woeful lack of action’, according to ESPC.
The latest quarterly figures to end March 2025 on new housebuilding and Affordable Housing Supply show that Q1 starts across all sectors are at their lowest level since 1996 with completions at the lowest since 2013.
This is the third financial year when both starts and completions have been down across all sectors.

Paul Hilton, CEO of ESPC, said:
“Scotland has been in a national housing emergency for over a year, yet we are seeing a woeful lack of action from the Scottish Government.
“We are not at risk of a crisis, we are living in one with the single biggest exacerbating issue being lack of supply across all housing sectors. The latest housebuilding stats illustrate this with stark reality and must act as a wake up call.
“There is no silver bullet here, but we need immediate action to tackle the root cause of the emergency.
“The only way out of this is to build, build, build.”
