This summer, Stagecoach Performing Arts showcased the power of young talent and community spirit with two spectacular events. On 6th July, the Summer Symphony of Song took centre stage at Birmingham Symphony Hall, where students from across the region came together to celebrate music, passion and performance. Then, on 15th and 16th August, the spotlight shifted to G Live, Guildford, for the much-loved Summer Showcase of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, featuring an extraordinary cast of 85 young performers from Stagecoach schools across the UK and beyond.
Both events highlighted not only the remarkable skills of the students but also the inclusive, supportive environment Stagecoach fosters – where creativity, confidence and connection soar to new heights.
The Summer Symphony of Song took place at Birmingham Symphony Hall, showcasing the incredible talent within local Stagecoach schools. Students from across the region took to the stage alongside The Sanctuary Orchestra, a group dedicated to supporting homeless charities across the Midlands through performances and fundraising.
Joining them was Vicky McClure’s Our Dementia Choir, a unique ensemble using the power of music to bring comfort and connection to those affected by dementia. Together, these inspiring performances celebrated compassion and the positive impact of music on both performers and audiences alike.
“Our Summer Symphony of Song was a true celebration of local talent and the incredible impact that music and performing arts have on individuals and communities. Seeing so many young performers come together on such a prestigious stage was a proud moment for everyone involved. This event perfectly reflects our commitment to nurturing connection through the arts,” said Andy Knights, CEO of Stagecoach.
Following months of preparation and rehearsals, the Summer Showcase of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang took flight this August at G Live, Guildford, dazzling audiences with its energy, creativity and heart. Featuring 85 talented young performers from Stagecoach schools across the UK and beyond, the production brought fresh, diverse interpretations to every role, allowing even more students to shine on stage.
The cast delivered a memorable performance that celebrated courage, connection and the power of storytelling. The showcase was a true testament to the spirit of Stagecoach – nurturing young talent, building confidence and creating a supportive community where every child can take their place in the spotlight.
This was just one highlight in a packed calendar of opportunities for students this year. So far, there have been 10 head office-organised showcase events, including international performances in Canada and Germany. In January, Behind the Magic gave older students the chance to experience life as a performer at Disneyland Paris, and the most recent Dance the Dream event saw 670 students from the UK and Canada performing in the pre-parade and outside Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.
“Both our Summer Symphony of Song and the Summer Showcase perfectly capture what Stagecoach is all about – empowering young people to discover their creativity, build lasting friendships and find their voice on stage. Watching these remarkable performers bring their passion and energy to every note and every scene was truly inspiring. It’s a privilege to support their journey and witness the incredible confidence and connection that performing arts can spark,” added Andy.
