Long gone are the days when coding was seen as a niche hobby for a handful of tech-minded kids. As artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and automation continue to reshape the world around us, Code Ninjas is stepping up to ensure children aren’t just ready for the future – they’re ready to help build it.
This month, the world’s largest kids’ coding franchise will launch its brand-new Code Ninjas Academies – the AI Academy and Robotics Academy – alongside an all-new Drone Club, opening up fresh frontiers for young tech explorers aged 5 to 14.
The Code Ninjas Academies build on the brand’s mission to turn screen time into skill time. Delivered through its new LearnDash platform, each Academy offers a flexible, self-paced journey with weekly one-hour sessions. Unlike traditional coding classes with fixed outcomes, the Academies are designed to unleash every Ninja’s creativity – using real-world tools, hands-on projects and the freedom to find their own solutions.
“We know kids learn best when they’re free to experiment and make ideas their own,” said Ed Kim, VP of Education at Code Ninjas. “With our new Academies, Ninjas aren’t just learning how technology works – they’re discovering how to use it creatively, solve real problems and build things they never thought possible.”
In the AI Academy, Ninjas aged 7–14 will discover how AI works behind the scenes – how it’s trained, how to write effective prompts and how to use AI tools responsibly. They’ll explore how generative AI can create art, music and stories, and learn how AI can help them code and debug their own games and projects. By the end, they’ll apply everything they’ve learned to a final project solving a real-world problem that matters to them.
Meanwhile, the Robotics Academy gives Ninjas aged 5–14 the chance to design, build and test robots using LEGO SPIKE and VEX GO kits. From quirky inventions and carnival games to self-driving cars and Mars rovers, kids will see how sensors and data help robots learn and adapt – all while tackling fun challenges that build teamwork, creativity and coding confidence.
To top it off, the new Drone Club will take STEM learning to the skies. Ninjas will master the basics of drone flight in a safe, instructor-led environment – learning how drones work, developing flight skills and taking on fun aerial challenges that boost their problem-solving and tech know-how.
“Today’s kids are tomorrow’s innovators – and we want to give them every opportunity to explore the technology shaping their world,” added Ed. “The Academies and Drone Club take our mission to the next level, helping Ninjas discover new passions and gain skills that will inspire them long after they leave our Dojos.”
