Neighbouring Edwardian houses in Birmingham formerly used as care homes at auction

A pair of neighbouring Edwardian houses in a popular Birmingham suburb which were both formerly used as care homes are appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next livestreamed auction.

The vacant freehold properties at 374 and 376 Slade Road in Erdington will each have a guide price* of £69,000+ in the auction on Thursday 14 September.

Jonathan Hackett, consultant director of Bond Wolfe, explained that the attractive guide prices reflected the fact that both three-bedroomed properties, thought to have been built in the early 1900s, needed refurbishment throughout.

Mr Hackett said: “This is a rare opportunity to purchase a neighbouring pair of large, terraced houses in what is an increasingly popular residential suburb.

“Both properties need modernisation works, but either one could make a great family home for first-time buyers with good DIY skills, while either or both could be ideal for landlords looking to invest in increasing their portfolios.

“These houses are in a decent location with the cross city railway station of Gravelly Hill just around the corner, and their attractive guide prices are set to make them popular with bidders at the auction.”

No. 374 is a mid-terraced house with a hall, two reception rooms that were previously used as bedrooms, a kitchen with no fittings, two shower cubicles, a toilet and understairs store.

Upstairs is a landing, three bedrooms and a bathroom, while there are front and back gardens plus a former garage currently used as a brick-built store.

No. 376 is an end-terraced house with a hall, two reception rooms formerly used as bedrooms, a kitchen with no fittings, a store, utility room and side lean-to.

Upstairs is a landing, three bedrooms and a shower room with toilet, while outside are front and back gardens plus parking space at the rear.

The neighbouring former care homes are among a total of 180 lots that are appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction, which will start at 9am on Thursday 14 September.
