Barratt London is awaiting Sadiq Khan’s approval and signature in order to start working on the Western Circus, Acton scheme in London Borough of Ealing. Located on the Homebase site on the A40 (Western Avenue), the 0.95-hectare scheme provides 333 new homes, 114 of which are affordable, a new 2,000 sq m convenience supermarket, a communal garden, pocket park and a community space.

The scheme was designed by architects TP Bennett and it consists of a four to six-storey residential building sitting along the edge of Western Avenue, together with three taller elements gradually increasing in height from eight to 16 storeys towards the junction with Old Oak Common Lane. The design has a two-colour palette and fine detailing of brickwork, which take their cues from the surrounding context.

“We are delighted with Ealing Borough Council’s resolution to grant planning permission for Western Circus in Acton, and are particularly pleased to be able to deliver 114 much needed affordable homes for the borough, which have been agreed with Ealing specifically to meet the needs of their residents,” said Matt Calladine, regional land and development director, Barratt London.

“We know how important it is to build more homes for London as quickly as possible and are looking forward to progressing the development subject to Mayoral consent,” he continued.

The site was purchased by Barratt London last summer, who has worked ever since with Ealing Borough Council, the GLA and the local residents on the design process, shaping a scheme that will deliver a mixed and balanced community. The anticipated completion date is late 2021.
