Scottish Housing Day Gets Parliamentary Support

Scottish Housing Day will be returning for a second year. First launching in September 2016, the event was created in order to ensure that people has access to adequate information in order to offer make properly informed decisions about housing. The Presiding Officer has been joined by a number of significant members of Scottish Parliament in order to support this year’s event.

The Scottish Parliament’s Presiding Officer Ken Macintosh has been joined by the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish Conservative Leader Ruth Davidson, the Scottish Lib Dem Leader Willie Rennie, Scottish Greens Co-Convener Patrick Harvie and the Scottish Labour Shadow Community Minister Pauline McNeil. The leaders of all of the main parties have come together in order to support this event.

The Scottish Housing Day is being supported by a range of housing sector partners such as the Chartered Institute of Housing in Scotland, Shelter Scotland, The Tenant Networks, Homes for Scotland, The Scottish Association of Landlords, The Tenant Participation Advisory Service Scotland, the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and many more. It is great that politicians are also getting behind the event, that offers those who work in housing a chance to demonstrate the work they do as well as information, support and housing options on offer for people through their housing journey.

Scottish Housing Day will focus on a range of different themes this year including the challenges that are faced by the younger generations while trying access housing, as well as mid-market rent, help to buy and housing supply. There are a number of different housing associations that will be holding events on the 21st September for subjects such as older people who are looking to live independently for longer in the correct style of home and the positive impact legislative change has had on the housing market.
