New Housing Development is well Underway in Salford

A new housing development is well underway in Salford. It has been reported that the housing project is making progress. The development involves Salix Homes who is a housing association which owns more than 8,300 different homes located across Salford. The housing development is being carried out by Salix working with Galliford Try Partnerships who is the contractor on this project.

The plans for this development show the creation of 160 new properties that will be built in Beechfarm in Swinton. The new development is expected to be called The Poets’ Estate. The news of this development site is positive, as these new houses will help in some way towards reducing the demand on housing that has been created through the reduction of houses being built in the past.

The new housing development is expected to replace around 146 properties that have had to be demolished because of long term structural issues that would be challenging to rectify. Offered on the development will be a range of two, three and four bedroomed homes. The development is currently in Phase One and the work currently being carried out is the installation of the roof trusses on properties that are located on Shakespeare Road. The first tenants of the development are expected to move in at some point later in 2017.

Those who have been affected by the demolition works that have had to take place on the site to make way for the new estate will be given priority when occupying the new houses. As part of the first stages of the development it is thought that families living in 56 of the older properties have had to be moved temporarily while the work takes place, and it is these families and other that will be affected later in the development that will be given the priority for this development. The entire housing development is expected to be complete by 2019.
