A new service station has led to the creation of 20 new jobs as construction work comes to an end. The latest service station to be open in Kent has officially opened in Ashford and is the result of a £2.7 million investment.

The construction work on this site is expected to continue after the site is open, and will be the latest site in the UK to offer charging facilities for electric vehicles. In order to mark the milestone of this construction project a £106k hybrid BMWi8 executive saloon was installed on the site in order to welcome guests. The site was taken over by Mr. Kanagaratnam Rajameon, a businessman who took over the old petrol station and garage in Hythe Road back in August. The work on the site has led to the investment in new petrol tanks as well as an extended canopy and extra pumps. The construction work has also led to the creation of a 2,100 sq. ft. Budgens supermarket which has also been added to the site.

The service station and the Budgens store will be open to visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will include 12 fuel pumps and three electric charging points as well as free ATMs, options for hot food-to-go, Cost Coffee and a wide range of fresh food options. The new supermarket has also obtained a 24-hour alcohol licence.

The opening of the new site was attended by a number of dignitaries including The High Sheriff of Kent, George Jessel Esq. DL. Also there to celebrate the completion of this construction work and the opening of the service station was the Mayor of Ashford Councilor Winston Michael and representatives from a number of local businesses.

There has also been news that 2018 will see the construction of a new motorway junction less than a mile from the new Kent site, which will be great news, and will make Ashford an even busier destination for motorists.
