International property and construction consultancy Gleeds has announced that it has been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development™ for the second year running.
The UK’s Best Workplaces for Development List recognises companies making employee development a key part of company culture. Only those businesses that achieve the highest scores after evaluation by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture, receive Best Workplaces™ status. Gleeds is one of just 50 organisations to be included in the Super Large category, rising 12 places to feature at number 34 in this year’s list.
To determine the 2025 UK’s Best Workplaces for Development, Great Place To Work® analysed confidential survey feedback shared by 240,000 employees working across the United Kingdom. Employees responded to over 60 survey questions describing the extent to which their organisation creates a ‘Great Place to Work’ For All™.
This year, Gleeds scored 75% on the people development index overall. Employees agreed that management appreciates good work and extra effort, as well as feeling that everyone has an equal chance to achieve special recognition from the business. They also felt that training and opportunities for continued professional development were readily available.
Talking about the recognition, Brian McArdle, Managing Director of Gleeds UK said, “Our inclusion in this list formally acknowledges Gleeds’ commitment to fostering an environment in which everyone feels valued, trusted to do a good job, and supported to achieve their professional potential. We understand the importance of giving every employee the opportunity to grow and we’re invested in ensuring that our talent grows with us. It’s rewarding to see our dedication reflected in the feedback we’ve received and in our inclusion on the Best Workplaces for Development List for a second time.”
Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place To Work® UK, added, “Training and development aren’t just about helping employees perform their day-to-day tasks – it’s about demonstrating that people are valued and that there’s a clear path for growth and inclusion. When employees can’t see opportunities ahead, they’re less likely to be fully engaged, which can harm both productivity and retention.”
“Development is all about looking forward – it shows a commitment to an employee’s long-term potential. It helps individuals feel appreciated and plays a vital role in shaping a strong company culture. Every year, we celebrate organisations that are building exceptional workplace cultures where people and businesses thrive. Learning and development opportunities are a key part of that, which is why we’re especially excited to be unveiling the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development – congratulations to Gleeds for being part of this year’s list,” he went on to say.
