- New crowdfund to accelerate Pavegen’s AI and Solar innovations
- Londoners invited to help power a tree-planting initiative during Climate Action Week and Wimbledon
- Steps transformed into clean energy and reforestation, aiming to offset 1,000 tonnes of CO₂
Pavegen, the internationally acclaimed cleantech innovator, has launched a new crowdfunding campaign in tandem with three public installations at iconic London locations, spotlighting the role of everyday movement in fighting climate change.
The initiative, titled “Step Up for Climate Change”, features Pavegen’s signature kinetic technology at 22 Bishopsgate, Old Spitalfields Market and the Wimbledon Championships. These installations invite the public to generate energy by walking across interactive flooring, with one tree pledged for every 200 footsteps captured. The campaign’s goal is to plant a forest the size of Centre Court at Wimbledon, helping offset approximately 1,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the trees’ lifetimes.
Designed to be both impactful and educational, the campaign empowers everyone — from city workers to shoppers and tennis fans — to take part in a collective climate movement. Each footstep will be captured in real time, converted into renewable energy, and counted toward reforestation.
The installations will include the following features:
- Kinetic floor panels that instantly convert steps into usable electricity
- Live energy and impact tracking via LED displays and dashboards
- Digital storytelling through campaign visuals and progress animations
- QR code access to live tree-planting updates and crowdfund information
- Global reforestation with trees planted via Evertreen in developing countries
The crowdfund will enable Pavegen to expand its global footprint and invest in scaling its hybrid solar-kinetic technology and AI-driven data tools. These innovations will support major smart city projects in the Middle East, Asia, and the US — within a cleantech market projected to grow to $4.76 trillion by 2030.
“Our mission has always been to transform how our cities harness renewable energy and empower communities through the power of a human footstep…”
— Laurence Kemball-Cook, CEO and Founder, Pavegen
Crowdfunding participants will join a prestigious network of institutional investors, including the Hinduja Group and Tamar Capital, alongside global clients such as Siemens, Intel, Ford, Saudi Aramco, and the governments of the US and Saudi Arabia.
Pavegen’s crowdfund is open to the public on Crowdcube from 30th June to 14th July, with early access available from 25th June at:
