    M. Lambe Construction Invests in Apprenticeships Training

    M Lambe Construction, the groundworks and civil engineering company has announced that they will be investing in order to further improve their apprenticeship scheme. This investment has been put into Premier Training Centre. The training centre is a vocational college as well as a Birmingham Adult Education Service subcontractor. The centre has been set up in order to deliver full time education and apprenticeship courses for learners. Premier Training College offers course in construction, hair and barbering, childcare and early years, English functional skills and Health & Social Care.

    M. Lambe Construction feels that feels that it is vital more is done to encourage younger people to pursue a career in construction. It has been predicted that 200,000 new construction jobs will be required over the course of the next five years. The investment put in by companies such as M. Lambe Construction will help to make sure that the specialist sector is doing their part to tackle the skills shortage and attract the next generation of workers to the industry.

    The Birmingham based groundworks and civil engineering company employs 32 young apprentices and trainees that are at different stages of training and development. Nearly half of these apprentices started working for the company in the last 12 months. The apprentices at M. Lambe Construction receive training from an experienced mentor while also getting practical theory education which takes place in a classroom. The apprenticeship offers on the job training in order to develop experience. Their high quality training programme offered by M. Lambe Construction prepares the trainees to work on one of the company’s construction sites.

    The Premier Training Centre has been created as a collaboration with Thoughts of Others, who is a respected provider of care and education services in Birmingham. This centre allows specialists to come up with their own tailored training and apprenticeship programmes in order to offer young job seekers the practical experience.

    The Director of M. Lambe Construction, Michael Lambe said last year, The Department for Education estimated that around 9,000 people who are aged between 16-24  living in the West Midlands were not considered to be in any form of education, employment or training. Therefore it is vital for a wide range of successful businesses like M. Lambe Construction to provide opportunities to the younger generation with the opportunities to pursue a full-time career.

    The Birmingham-based business currently employs 32 apprentices and trainees that are working across the company, in various stages of education and development. 15 of these apprentices have joined the company in the last 12 months. The Apprentices at M. Lambe Construction offers ‘on the job training’ with an experienced mentor complimented by the practical theory in the classroom. Through this additional investment, the company has the opportunity to really develop a high quality programme that will be able to add value to their education while also being fully prepared to work on one of the groundworks and civil engineering center’s construction sites.
