Foyne Jones, leading executive recruitment agency specialising in the KBB, Builders Merchant & Construction Supplies Sector, is delighted to announce a new partnership with leading independent timber and builder’s merchant, Buttle’s, providing a bespoke and outsourced recruitment solution.

Peter Jones, Managing Director of Foyne Jones Recruitment Group said: “Independent businesses are the backbone of Builders Merchanting in this country, and I am thrilled to play a part in the future of an industry, which I love so much. We do this by partnering with well-established brands and businesses, and Buttle’s is our latest partner already benefitting from an outsourced recruitment process created exclusively for them. As pent-up demand returns to the housing market, I am a firm believer in having honest conversations about talent attraction and onboarding, and we need to make the world of merchanting far more attractive to job seekers so that we can ensure our partners find the right people, at the right time.”

“Identifying, sourcing, screening, shortlisting, and interviewing candidates in person and on video is a real skill, just like the practical nature of a builder’s merchants, and so being able to offer a custom package that is specifically tailored to Buttle’s is a huge benefit for us and them moving forward” adds Peter.

Ian Church, Managing Director at Buttle’s added: “Everyone in our industry knows of Peter and his team as they are renowned for telling it like it is, and so when it comes to sharing both time and knowledge, we are fully on board with this new strategic partnership. With customers including national house builders, local developers, general contractors, public sector organisations and home improvers, we are taking a pro-active approach to the skills shortage and supply chain issues by investing even more in our people and team. We are finding that the market is an increasingly candidate-driven market, so teaming up with a disruptive recruiter like Foyne Jones is going to give us the edge to make fundamental progress.”

This shortly follows Buttle’s being recognised by Investors In People (IIP) as a great place to work and ongoing commitment to its team of 60 employees. Investors In People said, “Buttle’s handled the pandemic well, which was evident in terms of their management support and understanding for the differing situations that their people were facing, by working together to find ways to balance working and managing caring responsibilities during challenging times.”

Jack O’Connell, Partnerships and Projects Manager at Foyne Jones said: “I am very impressed by how close-knit, positive, professional and high-energy the team at Buttle’s are following several site visits with Peter last month. The leadership team has a clear focus on delivering outstanding customer service in a high-pressure environment, and it was a privilege to speak with the MD, Ian Church, so we can better understand the company’s ethos and bigger picture behind today’s trading environment. As account manager, I will be supporting the branch managers and HR team by sourcing the best possible candidates to grow the Buttle’s family, as we all continue to shape the future of Britain’s built environment.”

As the Builders Merchant industry begins to focus on the next generation of talent and showcase the extensive career opportunities available, Foyne Jones continues to influence the future of recruitment through video, digital storytelling, and more recently, Season 5 #BackToBusiness of The Foyne Jones Show: specialist industry podcast with Peter Jones talking all things business and football. Ian Church, Managing Director and Hannah Brunton, Head of Commercial, fly the flag for Buttle’s and join Peter in the podcast studio for Episode 16.
