A North Yorkshire company has been recognised for its commitment to creating pathways for local young people and inspiring the next generation of workers.
Align Property Partners has been shortlisted as a finalist at the North Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards, which is due to take place at Harrogate’s Cedar Court Hotel on Thursday, June 19.
The North Yorkshire Council-owned property consultancy, which has its head office in Northallerton, has taken on 43 apprentices since 2017 – with each offered sponsored training with a progression through to degree level.
From building surveying and architecture to mechanical and electrical engineering, Align’s multi-disciplinary team offer expert tutelage to help apprentices reach their potential and forge successful careers in the property industry.
In recognition of their commitment, Align has been shortlisted for SME Employer of the Year at this month’s prestigious awards.
Managing director of Align, Ron Walton said: “We are delighted and humbled to have been shortlisted at the North Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards.
“People are at the heart of everything we do and we have a track record of investing in our employees’ growth and wellbeing, as well as creating a working environment where people can thrive.
“We know first-hand through our apprenticeship and work experience schemes just how passionate and talented young people here in the North East are.
“That’s why it’s crucial that we continue to help create a pathway for students to learn and hone their skills, so they can hopefully make a real difference in their communities and achieve extraordinary things.”
The nomination is the latest recognition of Align’s commitment to training and development, with the company having recently become an approved employer for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Align has joined more than 450 other companies across the UK who provide structured ICE-approved training schemes for civil engineers looking to develop and enhance their skills.
It means their employees now have the opportunity to gain the knowledge and training in-house to achieve IEng or CEng MICE civil and chartered engineering qualifications – with two degree apprentices due to start the formalised training programme in September.
Throughout the year, Align also visit schools and colleges across North Yorkshire and beyond to talk to students about the property and construction industries, and the opportunities available to them.
