First residents set to move into new development in Swanley

The first residents are set to move into a new housing development which is transforming a former plant nursery in Swanley.

Bellway will hand over the keys to the first completed property at Highlands Grange– with a further six homes due to be occupied before the end of the year.

Construction work is progressing well at the site, where Bellway is building 60 homes on land off Highlands Hill previously occupied by Harrington’s Plant Nursery.

The homes will comprise a mix of 36 properties for private sale, including a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses, as well as 24 affordable homes for low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Emma Denton, Sales Director at Bellway Thames Gateway, said: “We’re very much looking forward to handing over the keys to the first residents at Highlands Grange later this month. It will mark the next significant step in the transformation of the site into a vibrant new community – one which will continue to grow as we welcome more buyers into their homes over the coming months.

“It’s thanks to the excellent progress being made by the site team that we will be able to hand over all seven properties that have been reserved to their new owners before the end of the year. We are currently on track to complete building work at the development by late 2025 or early 2026.”

All homes at Highland Grange will benefit from an electric vehicle charging point to encourage more sustainable travel. Ten of the four-bedroom homes at the site will feature eco-friendly air source heat pumps and underfloor heating.

Emma said: “The development has been designed to minimise carbon emissions and create an environment where people and the local wildlife can live in harmony. Environmentally-friendly features include bat and bird boxes, insect hotels, habitat piles, and hedgehog highways, while we also have plans to plant a community orchard and create a wildflower meadow to further increase biodiversity on the site.

“Buyers are impressed with the development’s sustainable credentials as well as the fact it is within walking distance of the town centre and the railway station, making it an attractive option for commuters who want a direct rail link to London.”

A selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes are currently available to reserve at Highlands Grange, with prices starting from £411,000.
