Bellway Northern Home Counties has broken ground on its third piece of land at Stanton Cross in Wellingborough to begin work on a development of 180 new homes. Construction work is underway at Chestnut Vale where the developer is building 171 homes to sell as private housing and nine affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.

The developer is already building 149 new homes at The Beeches at Stanton Cross and a further 135 at Hawthorn Place, its first two developments within the wider scheme.

Stanton Cross is a major mixed-use development located off Irthlingborough Road at the eastern edge of the town. The project is set to deliver 3,650 new homes, employment areas and shopping facilities, together with direct access to Wellingborough railway station.

“The ground breaking at Chestnut Vale is a significant milestone for us as a company and for the latest phase on the wider Stanton Cross scheme,” said Luke Southgate, Sales Director for Bellway Northern Home Counties.

“At Chestnut Vale we are building a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes for private sale and delivering apartments as affordable housing for local people. Stanton Cross is a very exciting project and we are proud to be a part of the consortium delivering a scheme which will create more than 3,000 new jobs and drive more than £1 billion worth of investment into the area.

“Chestnut Vale represents the third phase of our building programme at Stanton Cross and confirms our commitment to the future of Wellingborough. This development will sit right at the heart of the wider neighbourhood, with two park areas situated to the north of the site.

“There is already a vibrant new community taking shape at The Beeches at Stanton Cross and our further two developments will only help establish this as a new neighbourhood in the town.”

Almost all homes have now been sold at The Beeches at Stanton Cross and work is due to finish at this site by the end of this year. The first homes at Hawthorn Place, where Bellway is building 128 properties for private sale and seven affordable homes for rent or shared ownership, were released in September.

“The homes at The Beeches at Stanton Cross have sold out and there is a high level of demand for the new homes at Hawthorn Place. We fully expect the same level of interest from potential buyers at Chestnut Vale. Work has officially started at Chestnut Vale and we hope to launch the site and release the first selection of homes for sale in April next year,” concluded Luke.
